Easter Hymn
You stayed before me,
When I walked far behind.
You’ve held me closer
than this self could yet remind.
You’ve held me dearer
Than the truest friend.
You’ve upheld my honour
With the wounds that do not mend.
You called me brother
When I knew not a soul.
You lit my fire,
When I was broke and cold.
You gave me fortune
when I had not a meal.
You’ve borne my burdens
With the wounds that do not heal.
You give endurance
When I see not the path.
You’ve blazed a trail
That leads beyond death.
You died in one day
And arose in three.
Your hands and feet
forever pierced with love for me.
Flowers bloom in many shapes
As everyone can see.
Your hands and feet and side
Forever-pierced with love for me.
